Bridging the Divides: A Handbook on Good Journalism
Bridging the Divides: improving relations between India and Pakistan - a handbook on good journalism practice
After almost 60 years of conflict between India and Pakistan, the prostpect of peace is alluring, and the role of the media in this process vital. The International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) has been working with journalists in these countries, as they confront the challenges of reporting under governments that continue to crack down on press freedom in the name of tackling terrorism.
Since 2007, the IFJ and its affiliates, the Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists and the All India Newspaper Employees Federation were involved in an intensive programme of research and network-building among journalists and journalism trainers.
This Handbook reflects the experiences of those individuals involved in the research and forums, providing a useful resource for promoting conflict sensitive journalism and conflict prevention and contributing to a more tolerant future for Pakistan and India.
